Canadian
singer/songwriter Geoffrey Wickham’s music reflects a tapestry of
influences—from traditional maritime folk songs through country,
acoustic rock, and rhythm‘n’blues.
His
captivating lyrics create images of places traveled, paths once crossed
and shared, and journeys of the heart. To these are added haunting vocals and rich instrumentation,
creating an exciting blend of eclectic sounds. |
|
Wickham developed his guitar playing, singing and songwriting
while playing at a variety of clubs in his home town of Montréal, and
in his summertime “home away from home” of Portland, Maine.
His musical interests eventually inspired a move to Toronto, to develop his ability and be closer to the more vibrant music scene there. |

With a strong local following, Geoffrey Wickham has performed at such
venues as the Free Times Café,
the Epicure Café, the TRANZAC CLUB, Levity
Café, Cabana Room, Clinton’s
and Chicago’s.

Acoustic Concerts series, and appeared at the University of Toronto’s International
Festival, and the Annex Festival.

Since
signing on with RotoNoto
Music, Wickham’s single releases Waiting
for You, Sad Eyes, The
Leavin’ and his latest, Anybody
Seen My Girl have all received extensive airplay in North America, the U.K.
and Europe. His much–anticipated
debut solo album Geoffrey
Wickham was released in 1999 in Toronto to a sold–out crowd, and the
CD has already met with favourable reviews and strong sales.
Recorded and produced by João Carvalho at Toronto’s Umbrella
Sound, it contains twelve original songs, accompanied by some of Toronto’s
finest session musicians. |
|
Live, Geoffrey Wickham’s vocals and guitar are backed up by keyboarder
Glenn Love, drummer Paul Bailie, bassist Darrell O’Dea, violinist
Karen Graves
and cellist Alyssa Wright—providing colourful harmonies and some stunning solo
work. From the rompin’ energy of Sure ‘Nuff Naturally to the bitter melancholy of Sad Eyes to the beautiful simplicity of Gladys Anne, Geoffrey Wickham’s music will take you along on his travels, entertain you, and always leave you wanting more. |
